Scottsville Church of Christ

About Us

This congregation had its beginnings in 1840. For the first several years, they met in various places, but the church began building a new building to assemble in during 1898. That facility served their needs until 1941 when they bought a building from the Methodist on the corner of Second and Maple. The church met in that facility until 2001.

December of 2001 was a very exciting time for the church because that is when the congregation began to worship in the new facility that had just been built at the intersection of Highway 101 and 31-E. This marked the beginning of a new phase in the long life of this congregation.

For more than 150 years, this congregation has preached the same message of the cross. God’s word and nothing else continues to be taught to all those who attend, but over the years, there have been changes in locations and facilities. Our current building is just another example of God blessing the hard work of this church to meet the needs of a growing town and a growing congregation.

Our Story

We are a group of forgiven sinners striving to serve God and serve others as we journey through life here on earth. We believe God loves everyone and desires to have a relationship with all of His children, regardless of his or her past. We praise God thru acapella singing, prayer, observing the Lord’s Supper every Sunday, and thru the preaching of the Word.

Plan of Salvation

Hear: “So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. -Romans 10:17

Believe: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. –Mark 16:15-16

Repent: “God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands every-one everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him.” -Acts 17:30

Confess: “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” -Romans 10:9-10

Be Baptized: “Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” -Acts 2:38

Be Faithful: “Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life.” -Revelations 2:10

Testimonials

On 8/31/2025 Sara H. had this to say:
A nice local simple church. Music is acapella singing with everyone. Friendly people, preaching is encouraging and always with truth straight from the Bible of course. The Sunday start time is always right at 10:00A.M till 11:00A.M. If your looking for a traditional Christian style church to go to without a concert like atmosphere, this is the one to be at. My kids and I are new but have been enjoying the Sunday services.
